Importance of a Wedding Vid Importance of a Wedding VideoThe answer to the question as to why you should have a wedding video is quite simple – because you’ll regret everyday of your life if you didn’t. When you see other people watching a beautiful video of their special day, you’ll always curse the day you got married and wonder why you didn’t take a video of it. A video ain’t just an old-fashioned little side gimmick that many think, it’s now an art and a full profession. While there are inexperienced and bad videographers, it should be within your common sense to weed out any potential ‘bad’ videographer. This article looks at the experienced qualified professional.

In this day and age when almost everybody is capturing life on video using I-pods, cell-phones and any possible gadget, it’s important that you also don’t allow your once-in-a-lifetime moment to slip by not getting a quality video. Note that there is a huge difference between photography and videography, with the most obvious difference being that they aren’t the same. The other difference is that a DVD and VHS are portable compared to carrying a whole wedding photo album to a friend’s house or if you want to send to a relative living far away because they couldn’t make for the wedding. The other advantage is that it’s easy to make a copy of a VHS or DVD and distribute to friends and family unlike still photos.

Perhaps the most important reason to have a wedding video is because when you watch the video, it makes you feel like you’re doing it all over again. When you want to see yourself walking down the aisle, or hear your voice or your partner’s voice while making the vows, it’s possible with a video, exactly as it happened. A photo will only capture an emotionless, soundless, split of a second of the events of your special day. A video on the other hand captures the image, sound, emotion, ambience, mood, fear, tension, joy, happiness, tears, weather, and sadness, everything for every special moment.

They say a photo is worth a thousand words; well a video certainly must be worth a million words. This however shouldn’t be construed to mean that you shouldn’t have a photographer in your wedding. Note however that a video can do without a photo but a photo cannot do without a video – at least for the after-event-memories. Both videography and photography are useful and have legitimate places in any wedding’s budget but lacking a video is like not having music during the wedding reception. While it would be perfectly OK, it could be better. Shop around, look at demo videos and get convinced that a video is something worth having in the long run and you’re guaranteed to get a lot of years of fun out of it.
